Course 1 Itinerary: Phase One of BTM

  • The introductory session focuses on achieving the vital neutral state. This is accomplished by synchronising the practitioner’s awareness with the environment, enabling their nervous system to entrain accordingly. As a result, the patient’s system naturally aligns with the practitioner, progressing toward parasympathetic dominance and biodynamic neutrality—facilitating automatic realignment and regulatory effects throughout the body.

Subsequently, foundational principles of BTM are introduced, emphasising the importance of self-entrainment during manipulation. Mastery of this skill is essential for effective therapeutic application of BTM.

Initial practical training centres on basic manipulation of the ankle and lower limb, particularly relevant for addressing joint displacement resulting from sprains and other forms of trauma.

  • The focus shifts to environmental entrainment as the central mechanism for manipulation. Here, energy from the surrounding environment is strategically utilised to influence the organism therapeutically. Instruction includes complex knee joint dynamics, highlighting its role in mediating both ascending and descending forces through the joint.

Anatomical concepts are integrated to support intellectual engagement with therapeutic processes. Unlike approaches that prioritise anatomy as the primary foundation, this method positions environmental energy as the core therapeutic agent.

  • The curriculum advances with the integration of therapeutic forces and anatomical knowledge, examining distinctions between open focus and narrow focus states within the nervous system. These neural modes enable concurrent perception of multiple realities, a phenomenon sometimes referred to as co-emergent wisdom. William Garner Sutherland described this as split awareness.

Training employs the robust pelvic joints as vectors for further exploration, equipping practitioners with techniques applicable to treating the sacroiliac joints and lower lumbar spine.
